Ah Christmas….what a great time of the year it is.

You’re about to go on holidays and will have more time to spend with your family and friends.

Everyone is getting together, eating, drinking (maybe a bit too much 😉 ) and celebrating the fact the year is almost over and for those who are into that sort of thing, the birth of a certain famous baby over 2000 years ago 🙂 .

The kids love Christmas because they receive presents from an old guy who likes wearing red (and hates shaving) and the adults love it because they finally get to have more spare time which they can spend on their favourite pastime.

For some of you, this favourite pastime can be summed up in 2 words: DIY Projects.

In recent years, doing DIY projects has become one of the favourite activities for Australians.

Furthermore, as shows like ‘The Block’ have shown, this hobby is definitely not restricted to blokes and the Aussie ladies are more than happy to get stuck into DIY projects as well.

Therefore, we think many of you will find a 10% discount on all your hardware needs quite handy.

Better yet, this discount comes from the second biggest home improvement retailer in Australia and is available on both online and in-store purchases.

For those who didn’t guess it by now, this retailer is Masters Home & Hardware.

Just in time for Christmas, they are offering a 10% discount on pretty much everything they sell except appliances and WISH gift cards.

Better yet, they offer a ‘Best Price Guarantee‘ which we think beats any similar guarantee from their competitors: not only will they beat any price their competitors charge on items they stock by 10%, but they will also beat that price even after you’ve made the purchase. No one else in Australia does that to the best of our knowledge!

The way it works is very simple: if you bought something from them and then, within 30 days of purchase, found the same item being sold for less elsewhere, Masters will beat that lower price by 10% and refund to you the difference.

We hate getting a case of “buyer’s remorse” and think that this ‘medication’ offered by Masters gets it sorted quite well.

As you would expect from the second biggest hardware retailer in Australia (who is also part of the Woolworths group), their product range is absolutely huge and we won’t even attempt to outline it in this post. It’ll be much more effective if you just check their website.

Speaking of their website, this is one area in which we feel that Masters does better than their ‘arch rival’ Bunnings.

The Bunnings website is more like an online catalogue and doesn’t really allow you to make purchases online.

The Masters website on the other hand offers their entire range for purchase online and even includes some additional items which you can buy through the website only and can’t find in their stores.

This is great because it means their products are available even to those of you who live in regional and remote Australia and might not have a Bunnings or Masters store nearby.

Whether you plan to get the stuff for your DIY Projects online or pop into a store, you can get yourself a 10% discount (with no minimum purchase required) provided you make your purchase by Sunday, 14/12/2014.

If you plan to buy in-store, you need to show a physical paper voucher at the checkout. This voucher should be on your Woolworths Supermarket receipt. If you don’t have one, ask your friends, family or co-workers or simply be on the lookout for it next time you do your grocery shopping at Woolworths.

If you want to buy online,  things are even simpler.  All you have to do is enter the coupon code FRESH10 at the checkout. As far as delivery, some items get delivered for free while others incur delivery charges. Alternatively, you can always order your items online and collect in-store and that will always be free. All the various options are outlined here.

You can get this 10% discount on pretty much anything Masters sells with the only exclusions being: appliances, gift cards and anything you buy which Masters think is of a “commercial quantity” (sorry tradies!).

What we suggest is that you first go to the Bunnings online catalogue and check how much what you want is being sold there for. Then compare the price to that charged by Masters (before the 10% discount is applied).

If the price in Bunnings is cheaper, get Masters to beat it by 10% and then apply your discount for a further 10% off.

This is how you can get more bang for your buck and get what you need for your DIY projects.

Another deal Masters is running at the moment is on the Masters Ebay Store.

If you act before midnight tomorrow (Tuesday 02/12/2014), you can get a 20% discount on all the items Masters sells on Ebay through their official store there by quoting promo code CBIGXMAS.
